Boroujerdi: Iran Stands alongside Syria to Face Conspiracy

Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the Islamic Republic stands alongside Syria with all its potentials to face the “conspiracy”.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi has arrived in Syria on a three-day visit to discuss prevailing situation with top Syrian officials including President Assad, news agencies reported.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Mualem in Damascus on Sunday.

Boroujerdi said that Iran supports the efforts exerted by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to face the “aggressive foreign policies, ” stressing that Iran stands alongside Syria with all its potentials to face the “conspiracy.”

“We believe that the Syrian nation and government are capable enough to stand against the US plots and find their ways out of the current crisis through vigilance and unity,” the Iranian lawmaker added.

The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, said that the foreign powers have targeted Syria’s strategic role in the region.

Al-Mualem noted that Syria is battling against the armed rebels who receive military and financial aid from foreign countries.

A delegation of Iranian parliamentarians left Tehran for Syria on Saturday to meet with high-ranking Damascus officials on the latest developments in Syria.
