Boroujerdi: UN Secretary General lacks independence

IMG13541263Head of Parliament Foreign Policy and National Security Commission has said Ban-ki Moon is not an independent leader.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi was speaking in the sidelines of the funeral ceremony of Abolqasem Assadi, Iranian diplomat killed by tribal kidnappers in Yemen. “Before Geneve-2 conference, we had said that the conference would achieve nothing if Iran did not participate, and now it becomes a reality,” he said, “today, Syrian government is powerful more than ever and doubtless that any decision made in the absence of Syrian government and people would not be implemented.”

The head of the Parliament commission reiterated Iran’s support for the so-called ‘Axis of Resistance.’ “The UN secretary-general withdrew the invitation under the pressure from the US which we interpret as a flaw of judgment in his part and the UN,” Boroujerdi asserted.

Asked about Joint Plan of Action between Iran and Powers, Boroujerdi told that Iran was committed to its obligations and that “the guiding principle is securing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s interests.”

“We view Geneva document according to that specified by the Development Vision, which states that Iran’s nuclear position is decided in the framework of IAEA,” he asserted.

Asked about oppositions made in the Parliament to nuclear deal, he told that according to religious democracy and the rule of law, it was natural for Parliamentarians to express their views about different issues. He also believed that Iran’s expert negotiators were also waging laudable attempts to hammer out the implementation of the deal.

“We negotiate for our national interests and our frame of reference in taking decisions is our national interest, and the government implements these decisions correctly,” he believed.
