Boroujerdi: US Wants Syrian Crisis to Continue

A senior member of Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Tuesday that the US approach towards Syria signifies that it wants the crisis in that country to continue.

The Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stated the US exerted pressure on the UN chief Ban Ki-moon to withdraw his invitation to Iran to attend the Geneva talks on Syria on January 22.

He told reporters that the US is against Iran’s presence in the Geneva conference on Syria since Washington believes that Tehranˈs participation would bring great success and take effective steps towards resolving the Syrian crisis.

Condemning the UN chiefˈs act, Boroujerdi said the move proved that Ban Ki-moon and his international body are strongly influenced by Washington.
