Breaking: Top Al-Qaeda leader ripped to pieces by assassin gunfire in Idlib

The Al-Qaeda-linked Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (former Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist group operating in northwest Syria continues to suffer from assassinations against its military and political leaders.

According to reports, Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham emir Abu Mahmoud Al-Halabi (a native of Aleppo province) was killed in recent hours after his car was ambushed by gunmen whose allegiance and motive remains unknown.

Unleashing a hail of gunfire on Abu Mahmoud Al-Halabi’s passing car, the assassins succeeded in killing the regional emir instantly.

In addition to being the emir of the Al-Roj district in Syria’s Idlib province (being responsible for an area spanning from Zaqiyah to the Al-Ghab plain), Abu Mahmoud Al-Halabi was also a military commander for Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham.

The assassination comes amid an ongoing attrition against Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham’s military and political leadership – both on the battlefield and due to assassinations within rebel-held territory.

Yesterday it was reported that that two experienced Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham commanders were killed near the Israeli-occupied Golan border region during operations against Syrian pro-government forces.
