Calif. shooting left 1 dead, 1 wounded

One person was killed and another wounded Monday afternoon in what appears to be a gang-related shooting that apparently happened on Highway 180 west of Highway 99 in Fresno, California.

Fresno police first learned of the shooting about 1:45 p.m. when they responded to a traffic accident at Fulton Street and the eastbound Highway 180 off-ramp.

There, officers found a black sedan that had run a red light coming off the freeway and hit a white pickup.

The two wounded men were in the car and apparently were trying to get to Community Regional Medical Center, police said.

First officers on the accident scene could be seen giving CPR to one of the shooting victims.

It’s not certain where the shooting happened, but officers were reportedly combing Highway 180 west of Highway 99.

Fresno police Lt. Mark Salazar said the shooting appears to be gang-related.

The name of the dead man was not available Monday night.

No other information was available Monday.

This is the second fatal shooting this year to end up at the Fulton Street off ramp along eastbound Highway 180.

On Jan. 30, Roman Casillas, 21, of Fresno was found shot in his vehicle after crashing on Fulton Street near the Highway 180 exit.

Three people were later arrested in connection with Casillas’ slaying
