Calls for escalating protests in Ramallah on Sunday

Palestinian Islamic and national forces in Ramallah said on Saturday that the latest Israeli measures in Jerusalem are aimed it excluding the city from any future settlement.

The forces warned in a statement that the Israeli government is seeking to divide al-Aqsa Mosque spatially and temporally and impose a unilateral solution on the Palestinians.

They announced Sunday a day of escalation in all parts of Ramallah province against the Israeli measures in Occupied Jerusalem including closing al-Aqsa Mosque and banning prayer there.

The Palestinian forces demanded the Palestinian Authority to bring its decision to freeze contacts with Israel, which was announced on Friday, into force.

They stressed the need to end the internal division and achieve national unity based on “clear and serious steps”.

On Friday, huge marches and mass demonstrations were witnessed in Jerusalem and the West Bank in protest at the Israeli measures imposed on al-Aqsa Mosque and the metal detectors set up at its gates.

Three Palestinians were killed while 450 were injured in clashes with the Israeli police in Jerusalem on Friday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

Following Friday of anger, demonstrations and confrontations continue for the second week in a row in the West Bank and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories in support of al-Aqsa Mosque.
