Afghan blast kills children, wounds NATO soldiers

A bomb blast Wednesday killed at least four children and wounded nine NATO service members in eastern Afghanistan, when militants targeted a NATO convoy.

A NATO spokesman said four Afghan policemen and many other civilians were also injured in the incident.

While the nationalities of the wounded NATO troops are not yet known, most NATO forces in Nangarhar Province, where the attack happened, are American.

Attacks on NATO troops are on the rise across Afghanistan. Last year was the deadliest for the western military alliance in the country since the US-led invasion in 2001.
