Chinese clothing factory blaze kills 14, injures 1

At least 14 people have been killed in a fire at a clothing factory in southern Chinese city of Shantou, state media reports.

The blaze erupted at about 3:30 p.m. local time (0730 GMT) in Guangdong province on Tuesday, leaving 14 dead and one injured, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

According to local emergency officials, the fire was contained in half an hour and the injured worker was taken to the hospital.

The agency added that an investigation has been launched into the incident in a bid to avoid similar fires in the future.
