Chinese Envoy Stresses Further Expansion of Tehran-Beijing Ties

Beijing’s Envoy to Tehran Yu Hung Yang stressed his country’s willingness to further boost bilateral relations with Iran.

“Iran and China relations should go beyond the two governments’ ties and, include economic and cultural activities,” Yang said in a meeting with Governor-General of Hormozgan province Ebrahim Azizi.

He emphasized using Iran’s Hormozgan province for the expansion of commercial relations between Iran and China, and stated, “Potentials of Hormozgan province, including the Port of Shahid Rajayee surprised us.”

“There are also good industrial and transportation infrastructure in the Hormozgan province,” the envoy said.

During the meeting, Azizi welcomed the expansion of relations between this province and China’s Guangzhou province, and stated, “Iran is committed to expand relations with China in all fields.”

Trade between Iran and China in the past year was estimated at $45 billion.

China, like Russia, has consistently opposed the US pressures on Iran and the West’s economic sanctions imposed on the Iranian financial sector and petroleum products.

China has refused to comply with US requests to decrease oil imports from Iran and instead has increased its trade with the country.
