‘CIA, Mossad at loggerheads over Iran’

A US-based news website says American and zionist israeli intelligence agencies have been at odds for years over how to deal with Iran’s nuclear program especially after Mossad “false flag” operations.

According to DEBKAfile’s report, the differences grew after the CIA learned about Mossad officers posing as US intelligence agents with American passports to recruit terrorist group Jundallah operatives for covert attacks in Iran.

The Jundallah terrorist group is responsible for numerous bombings, assassination attempts, and terrorist attacks against Iranian government officials and civilians, including women and children.

DEBKAfile quoted its sources as saying that the Pakistan-based terrorist group was utterly shunned by the CIA. However, after Mossad operations, Jundallah were sure they had been recruited by US intelligence as were officials in Tehran.

“The israeli ‘false flag’ program was therefore accused of putting American agents at risk,” the report added.

According to DEBKAfile, the former US president, George W. Bush “went absolutely ballistic” when informed of this episode though he never took it up with Israel.

Barack Obama, however, decided to cool US intelligence cooperation with Israel on the Iranian issue when he took office in 2009.

As a result, after a recent bombing attack in Tehran killed an Iranian nuclear scientist, Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, on January 11, Obama made an angry phone call to zionist israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the next day taking him to task over the incident.

Obama seems to suspect that israel has staged the killing to torpedo another US secret effort to avoid a military confrontation with Iran through back channel contacts with Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that israel is preparing to strike Iran’s nuclear sites over US objections forcing Washington to bolster the defenses of US facilities in the region in case of a conflict.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been sending private messages to their israel contacts warning them about the dire consequences of such a strike.

According to the website, when Clinton denied “absolutely” any US involvement in the assassination of the Iranian scientist, the administration was implicitly pointing the finger at Israel.

The administration’s extreme condemnation is also seen as another attempt to hold israel back from a unilateral strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.

By doing so, DEBKAfile wrote, Obama is trying to show that US is not responsible for the covert operations of recent months against Iran’s nuclear targets.

He is doing this to demonstrate that Washington means to continue harassing and pressuring israel by any means to hold it back from a military operation against Iran.
