Hama: Army Inches Closer to Last ISIL Bastion in Syrian Desert

The Syrian Army forces, backed up by the country’s Air Force, continued anti-ISIL operations in Eastern Hama and managed to decrease their distance from the terrorist group’s last base in Syria’s Badiyeh (desert).

The Army soldiers engaged in bloody battle with ISIL in Eastern Homs and drove terrorists out of more key positions toward the town of Aqayrabat and al-Bal’as region.

In the meantime, the Russian and Syrian fighter jets pounded ISIL’s strongholds in the towns and villages of Aqayrabat, Hamadeh Omar, Jani al-Albawi and Qalib al-Thor, killing tens of terrorists.

In relevant developments in the province on Tuesday, the army troops launched massive operations in Eastern Hama, retaking control of a number of points and heights near militant-controlled Aqayrabat in Eastern Hama, as ISIL’s last and most important base in Badiyeh.

A military source said that the Syrian forces took military control of several villages and towns in Eastern Hama after this advance, crippling the ISIL moves effectively and tightening the noose on them in Badiyeh; specially when other Syrian forces reached the borders with Iraq.

The source also added that the Syrian forces were less than 30km away from Aqayrabat.

Meantime, the Syrian army launched operations in the mountains of Eastern Palmyra and Eastern al-Salamiyah region from Sheikh Hilal road, advancing in certain areas.
