At least 20 civilians were killed and several more were wounded in a US-led coalition airstrike North of ISIL’s stronghold city of Raqqa in Northeastern Syria, reports said.

The US-led coalition’s warplanes carried out several combat sorties in Northern Raqqa and targeted residential buildings in al-Msheirfeh region North of Raqqa, killing 20 people and injuring others.

The attack left a trail of destruction in the site.

According to the sources, the death toll is expected to rise as there are critical cases among the injured.

In November, at least 12 civilians were killed or wounded in a US-led coalition airstrike on a village North of ISIL’s stronghold city of Raqqa in Northeastern Syria.

Al-Mayadeen TV channel reported that the coalition fighter jets targeted al-Rahiyat village North of Raqqa, killing at least four local residents and wounding eight more.

The airstrike came less than a week after over ten civilians were killed in a similar raid by the US-led coalition on a makeshift camp of the displaced people who had fled an ISIL-held town North of Raqqa.

Syrian state news agency, SANA said the US-led coalition fighter jets bombed the tents erected for the civilians who had escaped from the ISIL-held town of Hazimeh and at least 10 people lost their lives in the aerial attacks.
