Clashes between Palestinian resistance and Israeli forces east of Gaza

images_News_2014_07_12_unit_300_0Islamic Jihad Movement’s armed wing Al-Quds Brigades said that armed clashes broke out on Friday evening between its fighters and Israeli Special Units in Shijaia neighborhood east of Gaza city.

In its statement, Al-Qudes Brigades said that an Israeli special unit was ambushed while trying to infiltrate east of Gaza. The brigades’ fighters opened fire and detonated explosive devices near the Israeli soldiers. Several injuries were reported.

In the same context, Israeli artillery attacks intensified on Friday evening on Shijaia neighborhood east of Gaza city.

Local sources revealed that Israeli tanks stationed at the borders of Gaza have fired dozens of artillery shells at Palestinian homes in Shijaia neighborhood. A state of panic prevailed among the residents.

As a response, Hamas movement’s military wing the Qassam Brigades targeted an Israeli jeep in Nahal Oz military site east Shijaiya with anti-tank missile which led to the death of two Israeli soldiers.

The jeep was completely burned while Israeli military reinforcements were not able to reach it for fear of resistance missiles.

For his part, spokesman for Hamas Sami Abu Zuhri said that targeting the Israeli jeep by resistance fire reveals Palestinian resistance factions’ total readiness for any Israeli ground operation.

Israeli occupation declared at dawn Tuesday a major attack on Gaza Strip. Hundreds of airstrikes were carried out against civilian communities in Gaza Strip. 109 Palestinians were killed and hundreds were injured, while dozens of homes were bombed so far.
