Cleric urges Rohani to form a cabinet of tested, loyal figures

A senior cleric has advised Iranian president-elect Hassan Rohani to form a Cabinet of “tested” elites and figures loyal to the country’s Islamic establishment.

Addressing worshippers in Tehran, Interim Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahhedi Kermani hailed the voter turnout in the June 14 election, where Rohani secured an outright victory, and praised the nation’s choice as an insightful manager and a revolutionary figure loyal to the leadership of the Islamic Revolution.
The cleric noted that the incoming president yet had to shoulder the burden of naming a cabinet and selecting advisors and deputies.
He noted: “This is a very difficult task”, calling on Rohani to pick “those who have proved their allegiance to the Leadership and their concern for the Islamic Revolution.”
He added: “Our brother Mr. Rohani should select such individuals who are compassionate and servants to the nation.”
He stressed that the right choice of ministers is the key to solving the problems, especially the economic hardships, facing the country.
