Co-pilot of Malaysia’s missing jet faces scrutiny

f922bdb036ebc2ae8628684fe5e1b4e7_LA senior Malaysian official says the co-pilot of missing jet spoke the last words to ground controllers before it went missing on last Saturday.

According to Press TV, Ahmad Jauhari Yahy, chief executive of Malaysia Airlines, told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Monday that initial investigations had indicated that co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid had calmly said “all right, good night” shortly before the plane vanished.
However, Yahy said it was not clear whether the last words came before or after one of the plane’s tracking devices was switched off.
The remarks come as senior Malaysian civil aviation officials believe the communications systems were deliberately disabled. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the aircraft’s crew were involved in its disappearance.
Malaysian authorities also say the passenger plane was intentionally diverted and could have flown on either a northern or southern arc from its last known position.
