“Today, the Iranian Navy’s Undisputed Power in Region is the region’s undisputed power,” Commander of the Iranian Navy’s Missile Program Admiral Ali Vafadar told FNA on Monday.

He referred to Iran’s progress in presenting naval training courses, and said, “At present, our trainings have grown into such a stage that we are even capable of training the naval forces of the neighboring states and other countries as well.”

Iran’s naval power has even been acknowledged by foes. In a Sep. 11, 2008 report, the Washington Institute for the Near East Policy said that in the two decades since the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, the IRGC has excelled in naval capabilities and is able to wage unique asymmetric warfare against larger naval forces.

According to the report, the IRGC Navy has been transformed into a highly motivated, well-equipped, and well-financed force and is effectively in control of the world’s oil lifeline, the Strait of Hormuz.

The study says that if Washington takes military action against the Islamic Republic, the scale of Iran’s response would likely be proportional to the scale of the damage inflicted on Iranian assets.

In recent years, the Iranian Navy has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Two missile-launching warships, namely Neyzeh and Tabarzin, as well as Sirjan logistic warship joined the Navy’s military fleet in the Southern waters of the country on Sunday in a ceremony participated by Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and a number of commanders and officials of Bushehr’s second naval zone.

The three warships were launched after going through year-long overhauling process and improvement of their defensive capabilities.

In a relevant development on Saturday, another newly-overhauled warship, Lavan, and SH3D combat helicopter came back into operation as well.
