Complete Report from Al-Hasakah: Syrian Army Captures SE Al-Nishwa

Hasakah-SAA

With ISIL focusing on the southern front of Al-Hasakah City, the Syrian Arab Army’s 154th Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with the 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard, Shaytat Tribesmen, and National Defense Forces (NDF) – took advantage of the terrorist group’s weak defenses at the eastern flank, capturing the southeast district of the Al-Nishwa Quarter after a series of clashes on Thursday evening.

Following their capture of the southeast district of Al-Nishwa, the Syrian Armed Forces withstood a powerful counter-assault by the ISIS militants at the Al-Liliyah Quarter, killing two dozen enemy combatants from the terrorist group before they were able to secure the whole area.

Meanwhile, southeast of the Al-Liliyah Quarter, the Syrian Arab Army’s 123rd Brigade of the 3rd Armored Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces – launched a counter-attack at the Red Villas of Al-Hasakah City, infiltrating ISIL’s frontline defenses, as they reclaimed this territory on the outskirts of the provincial capital.

In addition to their success at the Red Villas, the Syrian Armed Forces recaptured the Sadkop Fuel Depot and three quarters of the Industrial District after they were able to forestall ISIS’ advance from the southern flank.

Despite the Syrian Armed Forces’ success in the aforementioned areas, ISIS still controls the strategic Panorama Roundabout and half of the Al-Zuhour Quarter after their successful suicide operation that forced the former to withdraw to the Industrial District – the terrorist group has pushed into the SAA-controlled north district of the Al-Zuhour Quarter; firefights are still ongoing.

On Thursday morning, ISIL conducted a number of failed infiltration attempts into the Al-Hasakah Martyrs Cemetery from their launch point at the village of Abu Bakr, where they suffered significant casualties during their assault on the Syrian Armed Forces’ positions.

According to a military source in Al-Hasakah City, the Syrian Armed Forces are currently besieged at the Al-Ahdath Juvenile Detention Facility and the Al-Hasakah Power Plant; however, he added that the SAA is pushing to retake the Panorama Roundabout in order to break the siege on the prison and electrical substation.
