Comprehensive Quran commentary being translated into several languages

Part of the “Nur-ul-Quran fi Tafsir al-Quran”, a series of volumes containing a comprehensive interpretation of the Quran compiled by Ayatollah Mehdi Faqih-Imani, is now available in English and Russian.

Faqih-Imani told the Persian service of Fars that eight sources have been used in compiling the 20-volume collection, adding that it is currently being translated into Malay and Italian in addition to English and Russian.

“Out of the 20 volume-collection, 17 have so far been translated into English, 14 into Russian, 5 into Malay, and 2 into Italian. They have also been distributed into several countries,” he mentioned.

He noted that a team of Iranian and foreign translators are collaborating in this project, adding that the interpretation and commentary is based on sources from both the Shiites and the Sunnis.

He also remarked that a prison in America asked for the 20 editions of the entire collection in English, “The prison’s warden had asked for the English version after he had studied a volume from the collection that he borrowed from a Muslim prisoner. We have forwarded the collection to the prison as per their request.”
