Consolidation of Muslims unity to solve regional problems: Al-Jaafari

Former prime minister of Iraq Ibrahim al-Jaafari Sunday reiterated that consolidation of solidarity among Muslims is a key to regional problems and crises.

He made the remarks while addressing the opening session of the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference kicked off in the Iranian capital this morning.

Prominent scholars from 102 Muslim and non-Muslim states are attending this international event.

Referring to the latest regional developments, Jaafari said since the regional dictators are toppled by people in the past couple of years, it is expected that those who could spread unity among Muslims take the power.

Jaafari urged Muslim nations to help boost solidarity and unity throughout the Islamic world to remove the existing obstacles made by enemies of Islam.

He also stressed that unity among Muslims could help spread Islam worldwide.

Speaking on behalf of the Iraqi people and government, the Iraqi politician said Baghdad would do all within its reach to help spread unity among Muslim states.

He stressed that regional countries could resist against enemies’ plots by maintaining their solidarity.

Some 1,000 Iranian think-tank and scholars as well as 300 prominent political, scientific and cultural figures from World of Islam are attending the Tehran conference.

The 26th Islamic Unity conference is to discuss Syrian developments and seek ways to settle the crisis there.
