Crushing response awaits Iran enemies: Navy commander

The commander of Iran’s Navy says the Islamic Republic’s naval forces are fully prepared to give a crushing response to all enemy threats against the Iranian soil.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Sunday that the Iranian Navy “along with other Armed Forces in our country are fully ready to…respond to any foreign threats with all might and make the aggressors regret” their hostile moves.

Sayyari further highlighted the Iranian Navy’s great defense achievements despite the US-led sanctions against the country, saying the country’s experts have joined hands and manufactured a wide range of military equipment.

The Iranian commander also pointed to the Islamic Republic’s naval presence in high seas, noting that Iran’s Navy is eager to strengthen cooperation with the naval forces of friendly countries in line with efforts to establish peace and security in international waters.

In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in high seas to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers.

In line with international efforts against piracy, the Iranian Navy has been conducting patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008 in order to safeguard merchant containers and oil tankers owned or leased by Iran or other countries.

Iran’s Navy has managed to foil several attacks on both Iranian and foreign tankers during missions in international waters.
