Death toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza hits 624

The death toll from the Israeli regime’s military strikes against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip has exceeded 600.

Palestinian health ministry sources said on Tuesday at least 624 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,700 others injured since the start of the Israeli offensive on July 8.

The Israeli onslaught on the besieged enclave is in its 15th day, as the number of Palestinian casualties, mostly civilians, keeps rising.

Palestinian official said at least 19 Palestinians were killed after Israeli warplanes and tanks targeted residential areas across the impoverished region on early hours of Tuesday.

Three women including a pregnant one and a child were killed in the latest strikes. Israeli aircraft hit at least seventy targets including five mosques and a sports stadium.

On Monday, five people were killed and dozens injured, among them medical staff, when Israeli tanks shelled the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in central Gaza.

Israeli forces killed 25 members of a single Palestinian family, most of them children. The home of the Abu Jame’ family in the northeast of Khan Yunis was leveled in the Israeli bombing on Sunday evening.

Authorities say the likely target of the attack was Ahmad Suliman Sahmoud, a member of Hamas, who was visiting the family. Also, everyone in the four-story building was hurt if not killed.

Most of the fatalities are women and children. Three of the women were pregnant and 19 of the victims were between six months and 14 years old.

The United Nations Security Council has expressed serious concern over the growing number of casualties in the Palestinian coastal enclave.
