Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan emphasized that the government is determined to defend the country’s full nuclear rights in the negotiations with the six world powers.

“The nuclear issue is sensitive and vital for the government and it is resolved to prove Iran’s righteousness in the world by meeting the Islamic Republic’s redlines and attaining its goals and interests,” Dehqan said, addressing a meeting in the western province of Lorestan on Tuesday.

“Restoration of the Iranian nation’s rights is possible only through protecting its honor and if this trend continues, a proper atmosphere will be created for international interactions,” he added.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi reiterated that domestic uranium enrichment and complete removal of the sanctions are Iran’s redlines in nuclear talks with the world powers.

“Our minimum right is that we can produce fuel for our nuclear power plants and no one is allowed to withdraw from this position,” Naqdi.

He also underscored Iran’s right to carry out research work to further develop its peaceful nuclear program, and said the entire world has now come to realize that Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful in nature.

Naqdi described removal of sanctions against Iran as another condition and goal pursued by the country during its nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany).

“The sanctions should be removed, otherwise there would remain no reason for negotiation,” he added.

The 10th and last round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24.

In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
