Despite recession, number of millionaires in UK jumps by 7.9%

A new survey has found that the number of British millionaires increased by 7.9 percent over the past two years, despite an economic meltdown that is putting pressure on the public.

The survey carried out by Core Data said as many as one in 86 households in the UK is now a net millionaire household, which makes a total of 306,655, excluding the value of the primary place of residence.
According to reports, the number of millionaire households has risen by 22,338 since October 2010, which means that on average 723,705 people live in millionaire households.
The survey comes at a time when millions of families across the country are facing squeezed finances with falling house prices, rising food and fuel costs and salary rises that fail to keep up with inflation.
The rise in the number of millionaires is a sign of growing inequality in the UK, where wealthy people are getting far richer than the ordinary public.
