Direct talks denounced in Lebanon

Thousands of Palestinians have rallied in Lebanon to denounce the new round of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

The supporters of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas held the march in Burj al-Barajneh and Ain al-Helweh refugee camps on Thursday.

The protesters said that negotiations between Israeli officials and the Palestinian Authority endanger Palestinian interests.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas held the first round of talks in Washington on Thursday.

Palestinian groups say the Palestinian Authority does not represent all Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the White House refuses to accept Hamas, which was elected by a democratic poll in 2006, as a negotiating partner.
