Each vote is a slap on the face of the arrogance

“Each vote of Iranian people was a slap on the face of the arrogant world, the U.S and Zionism,” said the Islamic jurisprudent Ayatollah Hussein Nouri Hamedani.

Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani made the remarks after casting his vote for the 9th parliamentary elections at a polling station in Tehran on Friday and underlined the momentous effect of Iranian participation in the election.

“Whenever there has been more enmity towards Iran, the importance of the elections has been greater,” the grand Ayatollah underscored.

The senior cleric urged those candidates that failed to win a seat in the parliament to consider the codes of ethics.

“The result of parliamentary election was a high turnout which reveals this fact that the arrogant powers cannot bully us to maintain their prestige,” the grand Ayatollah underlined.

Officials reported that over 31 million ballots had been cast by 9:00 p.m., indicating an overall voter turnout of 64. percent.

Over 48 million Iranian citizens were eligible to vote in the election, 3.9 million of them for the first time.
