Eastern Ghouta Residents Form Popular Groups to Flee Terrorist-Held Regions

Civilians in Eastern Ghouta have started forming popular groups to leave the terrorist-held settlements towards humanitarian corridors as militants have blocked their exit path towards regions under the Syrian Army control, local sources reported on Friday.

The sources reported that residents in Hamourieyh, Saqba, Kafr Batna and Jesrin regions have been protesting against terrorists and called for their withdrawal, adding that the people are forming several large groups to move towards the humanitarian corridors and leave for safe regions that are under government forces’ control.

In the meantime, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the army men have gained control over 50 percent of Eastern Ghouta.

Also, a field sources reported that the army men are about to drive a wedge between Southern and Northern Eastern Ghouta, adding that it is the last chance for the militants to end the fight against the army.

A large number of people residing in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus poured into the streets on Thursday, calling for the withdrawal of terrorists and deployment of government forces.

The residents of al-Hamouriyah neighborhood carried the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic in the streets of the town, while chanting in support of the government and army.

The residents of al-Hamouriyah also called on the militants inside the town to leave in order to avoid any clashes in this part of Eastern Ghouta.

Meantime, efforts by the Damascus government to negotiate with the terrorists to leave Eastern Ghouta failed for the latter’s defiance to hold talks. Damascus  specified a safe corridor for the terrorists to leave Eastern Ghouta but none of them has accepted to retreat.

Syria and Russia have repeatedly demanded that the militants surrender their East Ghouta pocket in order to avoid any clashes.
