Ecuador harsh response to U.S. on Iran

The Republic of Ecuador’s Foreign Minister has severely blasted the US one-sided measures, “the US thinks that when it stops relations with a country others must do as well.”
Ricardo Patiňo believed that the shunning relations with Iran as insult to all Latin American countries, saying that “this law guarantees only US interests, not the collective interest of the countries in the region.” he added that US imposed its policies on others. But as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Ecuador, he stated that Ecuador would continue its relations with Iran and would not fall victim to US media sensationalism.

The Ecuador government has stated that it expects all Latin American and Caribbean countries to solemnly support Ecuador’s position in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) summit.

Ecuador is an important country in CELAC. The community consists of Latin America and Caribbean countries which will convene January 26 in the Chilean capital.
