Iran will continue to support Syria independence, territory: President Raeisi

In a message to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad on Monday, Raeisi extended his congratulations to him and the Syrian people on the occasion of the Arab country’s national day.

Iran once again stresses the importance of driving out the occupiers from Syria, he said.

The Iranian president expressed confidence that Tehran and Damascus will be able to take valuable steps towards a comprehensive development of ties through the use of their enormous capacities and capabilities.

He emphasized that the two sides can also promote regional cooperation with the purpose of expanding peace, stability and development in the region in all fields.

The US deployed forces and military equipment in 2014 under the pretext of fighting the Daesh terrorist group.

American forces have sustained their illegal presence on Syrian soil, although Damascus and its allies defeated Daesh in late 2019. Syria maintains the deployment is meant to plunder the country’s natural resources.
