Egyprian FM: Egypt eager to have good relations with Iran

Foreign Minister of Egypt Nabil Elaraby said at 16th NAM meeting here Wednesday that his country is interested in establishing good and constructive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali-Akbar Salehi, Elaraby elaborated on recent developments in Egypt and said his country seeks to bringing about reforms in its policies.

Such reforms would be in the interests of the Egyptian nation, Elaraby said, adding the Egyptian government is keen on having cordial relations with other states including Iran.

He then called for removal of obstacles to this end by solving any possible misunderstanding.

Elaraby also termed Tehran-Cairo relations as historical.

Iran’s foreign minister for his part congratulated the brave Egyptian nation on its historical achievement.

He further hoped bilateral ties between the two countries would be strengthened in line with mutual interests.

The meeting of the two foreign ministers was held on the sidelines of the 16th Ministerial Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) that kicked off Wednesday in Bali, Indonesia for three days.
