A court in Egypt will issue its ruling on the fate of the Muslim Brotherhood Society as a non-governmental organization.

The Society was founded in March 2013 and former Brotherhood leader Mahdi Akef was appointed as its chairman.

The court will issue its ruling on Monday following a complaint filed by the leftist Tagammu Party demanding the dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt’s State Commissioners Authority, which is a judicial body tasked with administrative rulings, has recommended the dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood Society and the seizure of its funds and headquarters in the capital, Cairo.

The Society leaders are not all from the Muslim Brotherhood or its Freedom and Justice Party.

Following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi by the army on July 3, Egypt’s police have arrested more than 2,000 people including a large number of Brotherhood leaders.
