Egypt, Morocco ban Hollywood movie

Egypt and Morocco have banned a Hollywood cinematic production from being screened in the North African countries.

Media in Morocco reported on Thursday that cinema managers across the country have been given directives not to screen the controversial “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” because it “represents God,” which is forbidden by Islam.

Earlier, Egypt’s Culture Minister Gaber Asfour also said that the movie was rife with mistakes, including an apparent claim that “[Prophet] Moses and the Jews built the pyramids,” adding that, “This totally contradicts proven historical facts.”

The minister also pointed out that the film, directed by Ridley Scott, is a Zionist film and a politically-motivated one.

“It gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies and that’s why we have decided to ban it,” he said.

In an exclusive interview with Press TV in May, renowned writer and filmmaker Art Olivier said the majority of Hollywood movie houses are owned by Zionist entrepreneurs.

Hollywood has produced several anti-Muslim and anti-Iran movies over the past years.
