Egyptian condemnation of the Grand Mufti’s visit to Jerusalem under the Zionist occupation control

A number of Al-Azhar sheikhs condemned the visit of Dr. Ali Gomaa Egypt’s Grand Mufti to Jerusalem, stressing that he a big committed a big mistake which cannot be accepted or justified.

Sheikh Naser Farid Wasel, former Egypt Grand Mufti, criticized Gomaa’s visit to Jerusalem questioning how a high religious authority dares to travel to Jerusalem under the Zionist occupation control. For his part, Sheikh Safwat Hijazi, head of the Association of Sunni scholars, condemned Gomaa’s visit to Jerusalem demanding his removal from office.

Gomaa justified his visit saying that it was under a total Jordan control, entering the West Bank via Jordan and not from the Israeli side.

The Islamic Research Academy decided to hold, on Thursday, an emergency session to discuss Gomaa’s visit to Jerusalem.

In the same context, hundreds of Al-Azhar University students demonstrated against Grand Mufti of Egypt’s visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque under the Zionist occupation, refusing any step that might be viewed as recognizing to Israeli control of the city.
