Egyptian Islamic Movements Change Location for Today’s Legitimacy and Sharia Million-Man Rally

Egypt’s Islamist parties, groups and movements reiterate their firm belief that Tahrir Square, as a symbol of the Egyptian revolution, belongs to all Egyptians and that it is not right for any faction, group or party to monopolize this liberty icon for any reason or to restrict entry into it to their followers and supporters.

Undoubtedly, Egypt’s Islamists are capable of mobilizing millions of people in Tahrir Square to announce their full support for the legitimacy of Egypt’s elected President and for confirmation of the identity of the nation.

Nevertheless, at the behest of a lot of national personalities and political, social and intellectual symbols, Islamists are giving precedence to Egypt’s national interest, and in order to prevent further division and conflict in the street, they announce a change in the location of the million-man march and rally to be held on Saturday, December 1. The new location is Nahda Square, outside Cairo University.
