Opponents of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi take to streets a day after Egyptian politicians reached an agreement to condemn violence and support national dialog.

On Friday, protesters marched to Cairo’s iconic Liberation Square and the presidential palace, while similar protests were held in other provinces.

The opposition National Salvation Front, which called for the demonstrations, is calling for the formation of a new national salvation government and the amendment of the Constitution.

The latest rallies come after Thursday’s meeting between the Muslim Brotherhood, the liberal opposition and youth groups at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Mosque.

The participants denounced the violence that has gripped the country for a week and has so far left 56 people dead, pledging support for national dialog.

The opposition accuses Morsi of betraying the 2011 revolution that ousted longtime dictator Hosni Mubarak, and of “managing the country in the interest of the Brotherhood.” But the Brotherhood rejects the claim and accuses Morsi’s adversaries of seeking to topple Egypt’s first democratically elected leader.
