Egyptian students stage anti-gov’t demo

The students of Egypt’s al-Azhar University have staged a rally in the capital, Cairo, to protest against the military-backed government of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

According to IRIB, Chanting anti-government slogans during the Thursday rally, the students called for the release of political prisoners. They also said the uprising that led to the ouster of former dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011 is still alive.

Meanwhile, anti-government demonstrations were also held elsewhere on the anniversary of the revolution four years ago.
Dozens of protesters marched in the city of Shebeen El-Kom in Monufia Province, calling for the overthrow of the military-backed government.A human chain was also formed in the city of Housh Eissa in support of the banned Muslim Brotherhood movement. Protesters also rallied in Beheira Province, carrying placards condemning what they called government repression.
