Election of IRGC official to top of Oil Ministry a blow to West

The fact that lawmakers voted in favor of Rostam Qasemi, a nominee for the post of oil minister, was a major blow to the West’s attacks on the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Ramezan Sharif of the IRGC said on Wednesday.
Out of the 245 MPs present for the Majlis session on Wednesday, 216 lawmakers voted in favor of Rostam Qasemi’s appointment as oil minister, 22 voted against, and 7 abstained.

Brigadier General Sharif said Western media outlets began a political campaign against the IRGC, once Qasemi, the commander of IRGC’s Khatamol Anbia base, was nominated for the post.

The West was trying to prevent Qasemi from becoming oil minister through making baseless allegations, arguing that the IRGC is dominating Iran’s politics and economy and it is seeking to even dominate the government.
