Elite Syrian Army unit makes final preparations for central Syria offensive

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is making their final preparations for the upcoming government offensive to expel the Islamic State (ISIL) from central Syria, a source told Al-Masdar on Tuesday.

Led by their elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army plans to expand southward from the key town of Resafa in order to press the Islamic State’s positions as far south as Sukhnah in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.

With the Tiger Forces pushing south to the Homs Governorate, this will allow their allies from the Desert Hawks Brigade (Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra) to blitz the Islamic State’s positions in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

Once this operation and the east Hama offensive conclude, the Islamic State will no longer have a presence in central Syria.
