Enemy’s war rhetoric just psyops: Iranian general

The deputy chief of the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces has dismissed the enemy’s war rhetoric as psychological operations.

Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri made the remarks in Tehran on Saturday.

He also cited the Islamic Republic’s great deterrent capabilities, saying, “Iran’s capabilities have stripped the enemy of the opportunity of any military action.”

The intensified threats are part of the psychological warfare campaign that Tel Aviv and Washington have launched against the Islamic Republic, he added.

“[But] the United States and the Zionist regime [of Israel], under the present circumstances, lack the capability for a hard confrontation with Iran,” he stated.

He went on to say that the psyops campaign was devised to sow unrest in Iranian society in order to affect the governance of the country, adding that the US and “global Zionism” are also trying to undermine Iran’s friendly ties with other countries.

The general scoffed at the idea of military action against Iran, saying it is just “impossible wishes” of the enemy.

Israel has stepped up its threats to carry out a unilateral strike on Iran’s nuclear energy facilities before the US presidential election, which will be held on November 6. However, the US opposes any Israeli military action at this juncture.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.

However, Iran is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and thus has the right to enrich uranium to produce fuel.

And the International Atomic Energy Agency has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran’s civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
