Envoy: Iran Steadfast Supporter of Stability in Lebanon, Friendly Countries

Tehran’s Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm and steadfast backing for stability, peace and solidarity in Lebanon and all “friendly” states.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports unity and stability in Lebanon and all friendly countries,” Roknabadi said in a meeting with Head of the Lebanese National Solidarity Gathering Mustafa Malas in Lebanon on Thursday, stressing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for all the oppressed nations across the world regardless of their religion and race.

During the meeting, Malas, for his part, thanked Iran’s “financial and spiritual support” for resistance fronts in Lebanon and Palestine and the country’s special care for Islamic unity and solidarity.

He further highlighted the enemies’ plots to stir strife among different spectrums in the region, and urged all Lebanese groups to do their best to thwart the plots hatched by Israel and its sponsors to create rifts and divisions.

Iran has already called on Lebanese officials to become vigilant against enemies’ plots aiming at harming stability and security in Lebanon and sparking divisions among regional states.

A terrorist blast in Beirut which killed General Wissam al-Hassan, the intelligence chief of Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces, earlier October, sparked nationwide unrests in the country.

The explosion occurred in Beirut’s Eastern Ashrafiya district, which is a predominantly Christian district, and near the headquarters of the Phalange, a Maronite Christian party.

Several buildings were damaged and many cars were set on fire as a result of the blast.

Regional observers blamed the US and Israel for the assassination of Wissam al-Hassan, saying that the western media claims about the involvement of Damascus in the terrorist operation are a plot to darken the ties between Lebanon and Syria.
