EP delegation can visit Iran

A senior Iranian lawmaker has voiced the Iranian parliament’s readiness for a visit by a European Parliament delegation to Tehran.

The Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Rapporteur Kazem Jalali noted that the two sides could agree on a new date for the visit.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast had earlier declared that the European delegation’s Tehran visit has been postponed.

“The decision is aimed at making the utmost use of constructive parliamentary cooperation between the two sides and drawing up necessary plans,” Mehman-Parast said on Monday.

Jalali, however, rejected reports that Iran has canceled the delegations visit to Tehran.

He added that the European delegation have been pressured by certain elements including the Israelis not to visit Tehran.
