Ex-Defense Minister: Iran sixth missile producer in world

Former Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi termed Iran’s missile capabilities as the first in the Middle East and sixth in the world.

According to FNA, he said on Sunday that indigenizing the technology for building solid fuel missiles, designing and manufacturing of surface-to-surface long-range Sejjil missile, designing and manufacturing of different maritime cruise missiles like Qader, Nasr and Zafar as well as designing and manufacturing of different forms of air-defense systems including Ya Zahra, Mersad and Herz 9 are among the efforts which have enabled us to reach to the sixth place in the world in missile industry.
The general also noted that putting into the earth orbit of the satellites Rasad and Navid and launching of different kinds of Kavoshgar-5 (“Explorer-5”) which are Iranian rockets launched on 28 January 2013.
Kavoshgar contained a rhesus monkey and is one of the series of Iranian rocket launches containing biological cargo.
