Extremist Obama policies damaged world order: Lawyer

US President Barack Obama’s extremist policies in the domestic and international arena have damaged the world order, an international human rights lawyer says.

“In many ways, I think Obama has been much more damaging to the rule of law in the United States and really to the world order because this really is very bad for world peace,” Paul Wolf told Press TV in an interview referring to Obama’s policies on the so-called ‘War on Terror’.

The analyst condemned Obama for “simply following the lead of the hawks in the US military” who are also acting irrational and pushing extremist policies.

“This goes well beyond what [former President] George Bush did. You know we can look at George Bush and he was also extremely unpopular but we can at least give him the benefit that the country was in a state of emergency at the time…I believe that the ferocity of this ‘War on Terror’ that’s been waged by Obama and Bush has actually made the problem significantly worse,” Wolf said.

The Obama administration has come under significant criticism for pushing Bush-era policies particularly in light of the ongoing crisis at Guantanamo Bay prison complex, as well as the use of illegal assassination drones in the Middle East.

Wolf said extremist views taken by Obama has confused Americans and the international public into accepting whatever the US says and does.

“Well Obama, he is coming from the left, he is coming from a liberal perspective and he is actually able to institutionalize these kinds of emergency procedures and make the liberals feel good about it because they believe that it is necessary if the liberal politician is the one who is advocating it rather than the hard line right-wing politicians in the United States,” he stated.
