The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) says it will free the three hostages, who were abducted earlier.

On Saturday, the FARC group announced on its website that it would free two captured police officers and a soldier, AFP reported.

“They are in good shape and being treated with respect,” the group said, adding that it would “proceed to take the measures to set them free.”

On Friday, two police officers, named Cristian Camilo Yate Sanchez and Victor Alfonso Gonzales Ramirez, were captured in the southwestern province of Valle del Cauca.

The rebels said the two police officers were engaged in “intelligence operations aimed at hitting our guerrilla units.”

A few days later, the FARC rebels seized an unnamed army soldier during clashes in the southern state of Narino.

FARC said it is ready to hand the captives to the International Committee of the Red Cross and a nonprofit organization named Colombians for Peace.

FARC, which is Latin America’s oldest insurgent group, has more than 9,000 fighters operating across a large swathe of the eastern jungles of the Andean nation.
