Fateh missile delivered to IRGC

As part of a general plan to bolster Iran’s military might, the third generation of Fateh missiles has been delivered to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

In a ceremony marking the anniversary of eight-year Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi unveiled the new domestically-built medium-range ballistic missile dubbed Fateh-110, Fars news agency reported on Tuesday.

The Iranian commander stressed that the developments and achievements in defense technology indicate that threats and sanctions have been ineffective and have only strengthened the Iranian nation’s resolve.

“This is the result of the valuable experience gained during the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war,” he added.

The defense minister also announced that a new and high-tech version of Fateh-110 would be test-fired in the near future.

The nine-meter (29 feet) long and 3,500-kilogram (7,700-pound) Fateh-110 missile has a quicker launch time compared to previous models and has been successfully test-fired.

The single stage solid propellant missile has high precision and good controllability. The ultra-sonic feature of the weapon enables it to evade anti-missile systems.

Iran says the weapons are part of its defense doctrine and aimed to increase regional security.
