Abdul Meneim Ali, another Bahraini national from Muharraq, has been killed Monday in Syria during ongoing clashes between the Syrian army and al-Nusra front armed groups.

The pro-regime Bahrain Gate website announced Ali’s death, noting that he was one of the armed battalions’ commanders in Hama, and close to the Bahraini hardline preacher Hasan Husseini.

Bahraini officials didn’t comment on the news.

For his part, Husseini tweeted that the slain has been killed by three direct shots.
Ali’s death brought the number of the revealed Bahrainis killed in Syria to five. All of them were claimed in fights within the ranks of al-Nusra front, including two military officers of the Bahraini army.

News about the killing of Bahrainis close to the regime or its supporters within al-Nusra front has been circulated online.

The United Nations Security Council has blacklisted al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front last week as a terrorist organization.

Syria was hit by a violent unrest since mid-March 2011, where the Syrian government accuses foreign actors of orchestrating the conflict, by supporting the militant opposition groups with arms and money.
