Five teens shot in Texas shooting

Police said they had yet to sort out what led to gunfire that left five teenagers hospitalized with gunshot wounds in Channelview, Texas.

“Was it one group against each other or two separate groups? That’s the biggest part of what we’re trying to find out,” said Harris County Deputy Sheriff Thomas Gilliland.

Police found an unidentified injured teenager lying on a lawn Sunday afternoon in the Houston suburb. After he was airlifted to a hospital, they were informed four other victims had been hospitalized, KHOU-TV, Houston, reported.

The names of the victims were not reported.

Deputies had not speculated on how the incident started, but neighbors said it may have involved an earlier incident in which a group of people assaulted a woman on crutches.

“The girl got up. She was on a crutch and said, ‘This ain’t over with.’ Two hours later I heard gunshots,” a neighbor, identified as Kay, said.

Deputies said the airlifted victim had the most serious injuries and was listed in stable condition Sunday night.
