FM: Enemies Unable to Confront Iranian Nation

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian urged the West to stop interfering in West Asian affairs, and stressed that the Iranian nation will nullify the plots hatched by enemies.

The Iranian and Syrian foreign ministers held a phone talk on Sunday, and discussed several issues including the meddlesome of Western countries in the internal affairs of the countries of the region.

“The Iranian nation will thwart the schemes of enemies with vigilance and would not be stopped by the political and propaganda pressure,” Amir Abdollahian stressed.

“Political and propaganda pressures can not stop the Iranian government and nation from moving toward progress and supporting the stability and security of the countries in the region, as well as opposing the intervention of foreigners and the aggression of the Zionist regime,” the senior diplomat noted.

The foreign minsiter emphasized the continuation of the principled and logical positions of the Islamic Republic towards the issues of the Islamic world, especially the Palestinian issue, and supporting the Resistance Front and the government and people of Syria.

During the conversation, Faisal Mekdad referred to the bitter results of foreign interventions in Syria under the pretext of supporting human rights and the failed experience of the Zionist regime and its supporters in conspiracy and creating a crisis against the Syrian government and people.

“They seek to create a crisis against independent countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Syrian diplomat said.

“The United States and the West want a ruined and dependent Iran, not a prosperous, advanced and independent Iran. Everyone saw what the US and its allies have done to Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan,” he clarified.

Amir Abdollahian and Mekdad also stressed the need for pursuing the process of expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

Protests erupted in several cities across Iran over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who fainted at a police station in mid-September and days later was pronounced dead at a hospital. The demonstrations soon turned violent. A special committee has been established to investigate different aspects of her tragic death.

Iranian officials blame Western countries for orchestrating the riots to destabilize the country.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei severely censured the deadly riots, saying they were orchestrated in advance by the United States and the Israeli regime.

“I state it clearly that these developments were planned by America, the Zionist regime and their acolytes. Their main problem is with a strong and independent Iran and the country’s progress. The Iranian nation proved to be fairly strong during recent events and will bravely come onto the scene wherever necessary in the future,” he added.

In recent days, Iranian officials have blamed the United States, the European Unions, and several Western states for meddling in Iran’s internal affairs over the death of Mahsa. They advised the US and its allies against “opportunism and instrumentalization of the issue of human rights” by misusing the incident.

Tehran reminded that the countries, which, themselves, towed a “long history of warmongering and violence” throughout the world, lacked the legitimacy that could authorize them to “moralize others” concerning the human rights.
