Iranian Speaker Raps Arab Rulers’ Indifference to Palestinian Issue

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani lashed out at the Arab leaders for their inaction regarding the Palestinian issue despite their fiery rhetoric in support for the Palestinian people.

“Under the current conditions that international conferences are held on the Palestinian issue, certain Arab rulers are not ready to take even a practical step to save Palestine despite their long speeches (in support for Palestine),” Larijani said, addressing people in a conference in the Central city of Qom on Sunday.

In relevant remarks in October, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri had condemned certain Arab rulers and states for funding unrests in Syria while showing no care for the Muslim Palestinian people who are continuously oppressed and attacked by the zionist enemy.

“Why do Arabs spend their money to fuel and spread protests in Syria, but pay no heed to the conditions in Palestine,” Berri said addressing the 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada here in Tehran at the time.

He lambasted Arab leaders for spending money on a wrong path which serves the interests of the enemies, and asked them to funnel their funds into an account to be spent for the Palestinian people.

“We demand that a fund be established under the management of a committee formed by this conference in order to provide a stronger support for Palestine,” Berri said.

He added that another fund should be established for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and asked the international organizations to render the necessary cooperation in this regard.

The Lebanese top legislator also stressed unity as the strongest weapon in the hands of the Palestinians, and stressed that special attention should be given to popular resistance in Palestine.
