Foreign students scared of gun violence across the US: Zionist John Kerry

John Kerry

US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that fewer foreign students are choosing to study in the United States because of their fear of gun violence.

“We had an interesting discussion about why fewer students are coming to, particularly from Japan, to study in the United States, and one of the responses I got from our officials from conversations with parents here is that they’re actually scared,” said Kerry on Monday.

Kerry made the remark from Tokyo, Japan when a CNN reporter asked him questions regarding the international perspective on the gun debates in Washington.

The secretary of state went on to highlight Japan’s restrictive gun laws and, as a result, few deaths from gun violence, adding that Japanese officials believed it was safer for students to study in Japan.

“They think they’re not safe in the United States and so they don’t come,” said Kerry.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) reported that US colleges and universities witnessed a decline in matriculation rates from other top nations including students from India, South Korea, Canada and Taiwan, the Washington Post reported.

However, the newspaper further noted that the overall number of international students traveling to the US to study has increased by almost six percent or 765,000 students from 2010 to 2011, contradicting Kerry’s initial claim.

The online magazine lambasted the secretary of state for spreading anecdotal musings, saying that his poor choice of words may spark international consequences.

The US has an average of 87 deaths each day as a result of gun violence, with an average of 183 injured, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Centers for Disease Control.

The US has experienced several mass killings over the past six months, including the Sandy Hook incident on December 14, 2012 when a 20-year-old man killed twenty children and six adults before pointing the gun at himself in Newtown, Connecticut.

More than a million people have been killed with guns in the US since 1968 when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated.
