Four US-led soldiers die in Afghanistan

Four more NATO troops have been killed in Afghanistan amid a surge in Taliban attacks against the US-led forces in the war-torn country.

Three of the soldiers were British and the other was American. The troops were all killed in separate attacks on Tuesday.

The American and two Britons were killed by small arms fire while the other one died of his wounds sustained in southern Afghanistan.

The deaths bring the number of foreign troops killed in Afghanistan so far in this year to 264.

The rising NATO casualties have increased opposition to the Afghan war in the member states of the western military alliance.

The militants have increased their attack on the NATO forces in retaliation to the alliance’s plans to launche another attack against the Taliban, reported a Press TV correspondent in Afghanistan.

NATO currently has about 130,000 soldiers in the war-torn country. The US has plans to deploy 30,000 extra troops by August.

Despite the presence of nearly 130,000 US-led soldiers in the country, civilians continue to pay the price for the 2001 invasion that sought to dismantle Taliban militants.
